There's no doubt that spaying or neutering your pet has positive effects on both the pet and owner. The simple act of getting pets "fixed" can prevent unwanted behavioral issues such as spraying/marking and aggression, and may decrease the incidence of some cancers, tumors and infections.
Unfortunately, many owners are forced to put off the decision to spay/neuter due to the cost involved. Thanks to the generous efforts of local veterinarians and rescue organizations, these owners can take advantage of low-cost spay/neuter programs available to the Madison area.
Here are just a few of the options available:
- -Spay Me! through Shelter From the Storm Rescue
- -SNAP Program through Dane County Humane Society
- -TNR Program through Friends of Ferals
The Dane County Humane Society also provides a list of private veterinary clinics participating in low cost spay/neuter programs on their website.
